Alfajores are one of the most iconic and traditional southern Spanish holiday treats. They are made from almonds, hazelnuts, sesame seeds and honey, and spiced with anise, coriander, cinnamon and clove. In 2004, alfajores were given status as protected geographical indication in the Andalucian region, due to the long history of their production in the historic town of Medina Sidonia, just outside of Cádiz.
Aromas de Medina is a family-owned company located in Medina Sidonia, deep in Spain’s southern Andalucía region. The company has passed down its recipes and traditions for generations, and uses the same ingredients and processes as their predecessors did.
