This light but rich chocolate-covered turrón is a newer invention from Vicens. Instead of the traditional recipe of toasted almonds encased in hard nougat, these rounds are whipped while the honey and egg whites are still warm, giving them an airy, fluffy, and delicate texture. They are then toasted for a bit of extra deep caramel flavor, and are dipped in rich dark chocolate – a decadent treat that still manages to be elegant.
Torrons Vicens has been making high-quality, traditional, artisanal nougats since 1775 in the town of Agramunt, in Spain’s Catalonia region. Torrón is so important to Agramunt, and to all of Spain, that it was declared a protected product by both Spain and the European Union, giving “Torró d’Agramunt” its own IGP (Indicación geográfica protegida).
